How to maximise Google Home to Fibaro experience with IFTTT

Google Assistant and FIBARO automation platform - despite being the leading technology in their respective field, the two giants do not work smoothly together. 

Try IFTTT with this handy step-by-step guide for a seamless voice control automation.

Step 1: Open port 80 on your router for the IP address of your Home Center 2. Please refer to the owner’s manual of your router to see how to port forward.

Step 2: Static IP / DDNS service

If you have a static IP address, move to step 3. If not, you are going to need to setup a DDNS service. Here is a list of ones to try.

Step 3: Creating URL address for IFTTT to use.

Here is a list of examples you can use

  • Device turn ON

    Remember to create an off and on for each device

    Step 4: Setting up your Google Assistant Applet in IFTTT.com.

    Maker sure you have an IFTTT account and the email is the same as your Google Assistant email address.

    Step 5: Go to My Applets, pick New Applet and then Google Assistant.

    Step 6: Pick the 'Say a simple phrase'

     

    Step 7: Add what you would like to say to trigger Google Assistant, e.g. if you would like to turn off the bathroom lights, add “Bathroom light off” and then set the response you would like to get back “Yes chief”.

    Step 8: Then click Create trigger

    Step 9: Click +that

     Step 10: To create your trigger, pick Webhooks from the list 

    Step 11: click 'Make a web request'

    Step 12: Add your URL from step 3

    Step 14: Click Create action

    Step 15: Review and test

    Step 16: Repeat for each device URL
